I love to depict dimension and to give a 3D feel to my work. Colour is not always enough to express the movement- the enormity of emotion....but when dimension is added, the possibilities for expression are infinite. In my mind, I see this work about 12ft high and 20ft long...............on a wall at the end of a tunnel.

Sofía nació en Paterna del Campo, Huelva el 22 de enero de 1963. En 1965 imigró junto a sus padres a Bélgica donde estudió bachillerato especializado en bellas artes. La escritura, el dibujo y la pintura núnca dejaron de ser parte de su vida. Estuvó 2 años en América central ayudando al pueblo salvadoreño. Licenciada en política économica y social en 1994 se dedicó a trabajar en el ministerio de asuntos sociales de Valonia. Hija de imigrantes y nieta de desaparecido durante la guerra civil española, Sofía siempre lucha por la recuperación de la memoria historica. Autora de articulos dedicados a la evaluación de la ley de memoria historica, sigue sus investigaciones en busca de su abuelo y de su historia.

BIOGRAPHY - BIOGRAFIA

(ENG) Andrea Cagnetti, also known in the artistic world as Akelo (Corchiano – Viterbo, 16 March 1967) is an Italian goldsmith, designer, and sculptor. He is known for dedicating himself to the research of the ancient techniques used in metalworking.

After having obtained a diploma at the Ronciglione State secondary school with a concentration in scientific studies, Akelo transferred to Rome, where for several years he worked as a graphic artist while continuing to pursue his in-depth studies of texts and documents relating to ancient goldsmithing, metallurgy, and alchemy. Combining this theoretical understanding with extensive experimentation on materials and techniques, the artist now entirely devotes himself to creating gold objects and to making sculptural objects

A sculpture by the artist Andrea Cagnetti, also known as Akelo, has entered into the collections of the Museum of Art and Archaeology of the University of Missouri, Columbia. Entitled "Strange Mechanism #3", this work of art made of iron in 2010 belongs to the sculptural production of Cagnetti, who is already known throughout the world for his amazing golden jewels, which are the fruit of years of research into ancient metallurgical practices and 25 years of experimentation.

Silvia A. Ramos is a Cuban artist and writer, born on October 6, 1953.
She studied and graduated from the Superior Institute of Arts, where she taught and lead the Drama department until 1997 when she left the country. She actually resides in the United States.
Her artwork is mainly integrated by pieces of digital art, media where she constantly explores new paths of expression.
Her main motivation is expressing the complexity/simplicity of the relationships between the being and the universe.
She has written several plays, short stories, poems, essays, and a novel.
She has received several national and international awards for her work as a writer.

Here again are the theme of the Gods and bracteates developed in two of my latest paintings in spring 2012. They are presented as a diptych for aesthetic reasons, although they are each independent. The left, the P164 is entitled Bracteate S�derby two birds. It is named after the locality of S�derby V�sby in Swedish Uppland where this bracteate was found, knowing that it is at least three localities S�derby that carry the same name. Originally from the theatre world, today she works on mask and portrait themes to "unmask" her emotions in ambush, and to unveil the screen. Whether the artist’s work is with charcoal, pastels or paint, it has been on the same track for several years. She focuses on corporal and facial scenography. And throughout her primarily colourful and luminous (pastel) pieces, she tends toward expressionism without concessions, becoming the unique character on the stage with portraits which are, as such, self-portraits.

Sylvie Poinsot belongs to a family of artists who develop a piece with one sole theme, which she develops without ever repeating or copying herself. She feels her way forward. "I’m slow, I have to experiment,” she says. This means using dry pastels “on the defensive body” of this sensual, suave material. She violently glorifies the softness of colour with her strokes, and diverges toward the dislocation of bodies

Nací el 11 de noviembre de 1965 en Escobedo de Villafufre (provincia de Cantabria), actualmente resido en Santander, como hobby desde el año 1990 llevo dando clases de dibujo a nivel particular. Mi primer contacto con el pirógrafo fue en el año 2001. Mi formación sobre pirograbado es totalmente autodidacta, todo lo que hasta ahora conozco lo he experimentado por mi cuenta.
La técnica del pirograbado se hace con un aparato eléctrico llamado pirógrafo, que básicamente es un aparato eléctrico al que se le acoplan diferentes puntas metálicas que al ponerse más o menos incandescentes van quemando la madera, papel, cuero etc. en función de la intensidad de calor y del tiempo de contacto de las puntas con el material. Venue du monde du théâtre, Sylvie Poinsot travaille aujourd’hui sur le thème des masques et du portrait pour « démasquer » ses émotions en embuscade et arracher ce qui fait écran.

Le travail de l’artiste qu’il s’agisse de fusains, de pastels, de peintures, tire le même rideau depuis plusieurs années. Elle se focalise sur une scénographie de corps et de visages. Et au fil de ses œuvres d’abord colorées et lumineuses (pastels), elle tend vers un expressionnisme sans concessions, devenant le personnage unique sur scène avec des portraits qui sont autant d’autoportraits.

Artist statement

My art is a calling, not a choice.

I know at my deepest core that this is what I am meant to do. Many artists talk about their art as a form of self-expression. But in my case, I feel that the creation of my paintings is directed by something external. Call it inspiration, a muse, the universe, God, whatever you prefer. I choose not to label it and to simply accept it. My abstract paintings are often created through the spontaneous application of paint with my fingers. This technique has enabled me to create a variety of textures and designs that could not be achieved with a brush.

Look at one of my paintings for a few minutes, take a few deep breaths, and then perhaps come back to reality.

My art is a cumulative effect of my life experiences, acquired technical skills, artistic creativity and world view. I gather inspiration for my work from both my environment and my inner thoughts and emotions. My creations are an outward expression of the things that I find interesting when I mix my inner emotions and thoughts with the physical world we all live in. By applying an artistic viewpoint to the ideas created when allowing senses and emotions to swim in a chaotic dance of confusion, imagination and fact, I can sometimes extract inspiration for an artistic endeavour. It often amazes me that the result of this bewildering and complex process is often a work of subtle design or simple form.

I was born in city of Samara, Russia, which is located 1000km east from Moscow. My career as painter started in early childhood. Since age of 5 i very liked to draw almost anything that i could catch with me eye and enhance with me imagination. In order to direct my abilities to the right track i was taking lessons in arts and painting for a few years until the moment i have decided which style to choose and which way i want to go.

My early works in school and gymnasium were noted by me friends and i started to participate in local child paintings exhibitions achieving highest grades and me paintings is still decorating walls of Samara City Hall until today.

Since 2007 during extensive travels across continents, visiting many countries i always had with me piece of canvas and paint. Autodidacte et passionnée de dessin depuis mon enfance, j’ai beaucoup crayonné, mais laissé en sommeil ce désir pendant des années.
C’est en 2002, captivée lors d’une exposition internationale de pastel, où j’ai eu l’opportunité d’y rencontrer Sylvie CABAL, Maître pastelliste et Présidente de l’Art du Pastel en France que j’ai décidé de m’inscrire à ses cours.

Desde a reprodução do que observa, passando pelas mais diversas interpretações, até à pura criação, o artista está "contagiado" pela arte...
Arte é também o modo como nos relacionamos, com nós próprios, com os outros, com o ambiente, com tudo...
O relacionamento implica a percepção e a manifestação, a interiorização e a exteriorização, o receptivo e o activo...
Quanto maior a sensibilidade do artista, maior a sua potencialidade na expressão...
Há artistas que dão mais atenção ao mundo físico, outros ao emocional, outros ao mental, outros ao intuitivo e alguns conseguem mesmo atingir o arquetípico...
E claro que isso se reflecte nas suas obras...

Joan Jones, Lompoc, CA, one of two Santa Ynez Valley Artist Guild members exhibiting through May 31 at Solvang Brewing Co., 1547 Mission Dr., decided to take the bull by the horns, even at risk to life and limb in this all-Danish town, by showing paintings and prints inspired by her 2006 trip to her ancestral home, Norway.
Much to her surprise though, when she and her husband had finished hanging her 10 paintings, the brewmeister, who'd finished previewing them, was heard to remark, "These look just like here." At this point, Joan was hardly able to restrain herself, and, turning to DIck, in sotto voce, asked, "Do we tell him now -- or later?"
The Brewery inaugurated the first of its receptions in late February, serving beef stroganoff and salad, but

"Alone?" asked Hi'iaka again. "It is no fun to talk to my shadow. It doesen't answer.
Then Pele called her own serving woman. "Go with my sister," she commanded and turned again to tend her fires.
The two journeyed. Hi'iaka sang with joy as they walked under lehua trees covered with blossoms. Then she was quiet, watching the birds gathering nectar from the blossoms.
Suddenly the serving woman whispered, "I hear the grunt of a pig! What is it a pig of the land or sea?"
"Both!" laughed Hi'iaka softly. "You hear the grunt of a pig fish. Someone is taking an offering to Pele."

I am artist painter and I was born in Moravia in 1954, Czech Republic. Masters of world art are my passion. From my youth to the times contemporary I am painting copies of masters of world art all style. My passion is oil on canvas and good knowledge of the style of especial master. I have painted more as two hundred copies and I have very experience with Van Gogh, Renoir, Gauguin, Monet, Cézanne, Modigliani, Utrillo, Picasso, Dalí, Rembrandt, etc. I enjoy live through this time, when lived this masters and can experience their passion. I hope, you enjoy my paintings too.

Umapathy

Umapathy received intensive training in the arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Kumbakonam (South India). His drawings and paintings were launched in Singapore in 2011 through a significant solo exhibition that was presented by The Gallery of Gnani Arts. Umapathy has successfully participated in notable group and solo exhibitions in India and Singapore. Also, the spirited artist displays a deep involvement in Tamil Literature. This interest led to the creation of his very own poems (in Tamil) which usually carry a social message. He has also written and produced a short film in Tamil that was based on Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of ahimsa (meaning ‘non-violence’, literally).
