Artist's Statement, Künstler Caron Sloan Zuger

Visual inspiration is found everywhere in life. Common events and sights - such as, frost on a vineyard, driftwood on a beach, aerial views from an airplane, a storm, a sunrise over a forested valley, water flowing over a broken drain field, or textures, lines, and colors in a piece of marble - just simple things sort of click in my brain. There the memory is stored, and eventually is converted into an idea for a painting, or a series of paintings where the idea is further developed and expanded. Playing and experimenting with the medium, and with the inspired ideas, as well as letting accidents within the medium occur always contribute to the final work. Each painting in a series takes the ideas to explore it in a different focus. Endless possibilities. Travel also inspires me with many ideas for painting. Seeing and experiencing different cultures, and countries is a never ending source of inspiration. The amazing variety of sights, cultures, scenery, and lifestyles are a boundless source of motivation. Creative events - such as dance, and music - also fascinate me.
